Managing Workplace Anxiety Training
Training in how to deal with workplace anxiety: Course Outline
Location: Perth
Facilitator: Dr. Marcus Clarkson
Overview
G'day everyone. Having worked with businesses all over Australia for the last fifteen years, I have discovered something very important: that feeling anxious at work is not a personal weakness, it is a natural reaction to our productivity focused culture that we quite simply can learn to manage.
I still recall sitting in my car in the parking lot of my first major Client presentation, shaking hands and asking whether I'd picked the wrong career. Twenty years later, though I still get nervous before those big moments, I've learnt to harness that energy and make it work to my advantage. This training is not about eradicating anxiety entirely, that's not realistic or helpful. Together, these truisms add up to pushing people to do their best work, but we're not going to go there this time, so we'll go with practical approaches that get the job done in the actual workplace.
This extraordinary programme meets the increasing demand for techniques on managing stress in busy organisations. Attendees will also be able to learn scientifically based skills to recognise, understand and manage workplace anxiety, including sustained performance. There is theory involving psychology and there is hands on practicum where attendees leave with something they can actually use the next day.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this training, participants will be able to:
Learn to recognise your personal triggers and red flags / warning signs before they spin out of control
Use instant calming techniques you can use in any work environment, from open offices to Zoom calls
Rethink anxious thoughts This involves using cognitive restructuring techniques to turn worry into productive actions.
Use relaxation and stress management techniques during high stress periods as well as deadlines
Handle tough conversations confidently while mitigating your own internal anxiety response

Set those boundaries that protect your mental energy without damaging professional relationships
Use quick reset tools between tasks and meetings to stay emotionally balanced
What You Will Learn
Understanding Your Anxiety Response
We're going to get into why your brain processes that "urgent" email as if it were a physical threat, and how that knowledge gives you the power to outsmart it. You'll discover your individual anxiety patterns and warning signs with hands on self assessment tools.
Practical Calming Techniques
Discover evidence based tools that work in any office, and that you can use in a presentation, in a challenging meeting, or when dealing with an overflowing inbox. These aren't theoretical constructs but practical instruments tried and tested in Australian workplaces.
Cognitive Reframing Skills
Learn to turn anxiety provoking thoughts from barriers to information. We'll try turning "What if I mess this up? to "How should I prepare?" by way of small but potent shifts in mindset.
Communication Under Pressure
Find ways to communicate clearly and confidently even when you are feeling anxious. Becoming able to have those difficult conversations with co workers or your boss without your nervous system taking over the interaction.
Building Resilience
Develop long term ways for coping with the everyday workplace stressors. This involves managing your own (and others) expectations, managing your perfectionist, and setting up your own toolkit for when it does actually get busy.
Quick Recovery Methods
Learn rapid reset techniques that can be used in between meetings or during lunch, even in the restroom if that is the only peace and quiet to get it together. These techniques are effective whether you have 30 seconds or five minutes.
Training Methodology
The course features immersive workshops, hands on exercises and realistic scenario practice. We will use authentic examples from right at your work environment, not just some random generic roleplay that doesn't reflect your day to day truth. You will learn techniques through experimentation in a safe environment, and how to use them to improve your own approach.
Summary
With this training we acknowledge that a mild state of nervousness can actually improve performance, it's only when anxiety takes control that we've got problems on our hands. Instead of struggling against them, you'll learn how to harness your nervous system.
The point is not to become an anxiety free robot, but to develop confidence that you can handle anxious moments at work and in life. Many have left wishing they had learnt these skills years earlier, but there is no time like the present to start mastering these critical workplace capabilities.
You'll walk away with a toolbox you can use in your daily life, evidence based techniques that work even when you're under pressure, and the confidence to tackle any workplace problems that come your way. This is not just about feeling better at work, it's about working better, communicating better, and probably sleeping a little better, too.
Invest in your career: Your mental health and your success depend on it.
